A Simple Skincare Routine for Men Who Work Outside
I've spent roughly 20 years working in civil and landscape construction. Long hard days outside battling the elements are just part of the job. By the time I get home, the last thing I want is a complicated skincare routine.
I started using a tallow skincare product and liked how easily I could fit it into my everyday routine. It was a simple, quality product that did what I needed it to do. That experience eventually led me to start Rugged Refinement.
If you spend your days working outside, taking care of your skin doesn't need to be complicated. Protect yourself from the sun during the day, and when you get home, shower, apply and get on with it.
Before Work: Keep It Simple
You don't need a bathroom counter full of skincare products. After your shower, apply a little moisturizer. The idea is simple: keep your skin moisturized without adding a bunch of extra steps to your morning.
When using a rich tallow balm, more isn't necessarily better. Start with a small amount and see how it feels. You can always add a little more where you need it.
If you're new to a tallow moisturizer, take some time to try it out when you first get it, rather than figuring out how much to use when you're rushing out the door for work.
Choose a separate broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen before heading outside. You'll thank me later.

When you're working outside all day, protecting your skin from the sun is important. It doesn't matter whether you're working in construction, landscaping or just spending the day outdoors. Sun exposure adds up.

And remember, if you're dealing with persistent dryness, painful cracks or a rash, get it checked. Moisturizer has its place, but it isn't the answer to every skin problem.
